Shifting the Blame - A Blame Calculus with Delimited Control
نویسندگان
چکیده
We study integration of static and dynamic typing in the presence of delimited-control operators. In a program where typed and untyped parts coexist, the run-time system has to monitor the flow of values between these parts and abort program execution if invalid values are passed. However, control operators, which enable us to implement useful control effects, make such monitoring tricky; in fact, it is known that, with a standard approach, certain communications between typed and untyped parts can be overlooked. We propose a new cast-based mechanism to monitor all communications between typed and untyped parts for a language with control operators shift and reset. We extend a blame calculus with shift/reset to give its semantics (operational semantics and CPS transformation) and prove two important correctness properties of the proposed mechanism: Blame Theorem and soundness of the CPS transformation.

The effectiveness of mindfulness-based education on self-blame and working memory in adolescents
The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of mindfulness-based education on two structures related to cognition, namely self-blame and working memory in adolescents. The research design was quasi-experimental with a control group. Participants included 30 people (two groups of 15 people) from adolescents aged 14 to 18 years who volunteered to participate in the study. They responded t...
متن کاملA Complement to Blame
Contracts, gradual typing, and hybrid typing all permit less-precisely typed and more-precisely typed code to interact. Blame calculus encompasses these, and guarantees blame safety: blame for type errors always lays with less-precisely typed code. This paper serves as a complement to the literature on blame calculus: it elaborates on motivation, comments on the reception of the work, critiques...
متن کاملBlame, coercions, and threesomes, precisely
We systematically present four calculi for gradual typing: the blame calculus of Wadler and Findler (2009); a novel calculus that pinpoints blame precisely; the coercion calculus of Henglein (1994); and the threesome calculus of Siek and Wadler (2010). Threesomes are given a syntax that directly exposes their origin as coercions in normal form, a more transparent presentation than that found in...
متن کاملExploring the Design Space of Higher-Order Casts
This paper explores the surprisingly rich design space for the simply typed lambda calculus with casts and a dynamic type. Such a calculus is the target intermediate language of the gradually typed lambda calculus but it is also interesting in its own right. In light of diverse requirements for casts, we develop a modular semantic framework, based on Henglein’s Coercion Calculus, that instantia...
